Alan served in London’s Metropolitan Police, both in uniform and plain clothes. He was posted to their headquarters at New Scotland Yard, as a Senior Investigator, on a number of occasions. He retired in 2011, closing the businessand is now only available for advice.

Alan is a Freeman of the City of London and a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals. He is a Fellow, past Principal and Life Member of the Institute of Professional Investigators. He is a former President and past Chairman of the Council of International Investigators. He has been awarded the Malcolm Thomson Memorial Award and their Meritorious Service Award. He is the Founder and past Chairman of the Lyne Mountain Rescue Team. He is also a member of the Association of British Investigators and the National Association of Retired Police Officers.
